Trip
Length: 5 days, 4 nights
Trip
Location: The
adventure begins in Salmon with an orientation meeting
at the Stagecoach Inn the evening before the launch.
The next morning, we drive 68 miles down the Salmon
River to Corn Creek, where the road ends and the wilderness
begins.
The river
portion of our five day trip ends approximately 80
miles downstream at Vinegar or Carey Creek, where
we meet a charter bus for the 70 mile drive to McCall.
Most of our guests choose to stay the night in this
lovely lakeside town before beginning travel home.
High
or low water conditions may necessitate adapting the
trip beginning and/or ending point. If alternate transportation
is required (such as a flight out from the river corridor),
additional costs will be the responsibility of the
participant.
On some
trips, we spend our third night at China Bar Lodge,
featuring hot showers, beds, and unbelievable Ranch
Style cooking. Accommodations at China Bar are rustic
and cozy with two large sleeping cabins, each with
a shower room and 4 private rooms for couples and
a living room, plus the main lodge and one of the
West's only triple-seater outhouses. Our hosts at
China Bar put their hearts into providing an evening
that complements the Salmon River experience.
Some
of our late season trips may instead feature the last
night at Shepp Ranch, a historic ranch with hotel
style accommodations, including indoor plumbing and
a hot tub. In this case, on morning 5 you will fly
on a chartered flight to your choice of Salmon, McCall,
or Boise. If you prefer not to travel in a smaller
plane, there are additional transportation options
(call for details).

Getting
Here is Part of the Adventure!
Look
at any map of Idaho and you'll see a great big empty
spot in the central mountains. Here you'll find the
Salmon River Mountains, home of the Frank Church River
of No Return Wilderness. No towns, no roads, no power
lines, no cell phone towers. And we'll float right
through the heart of it on our five day journey.
The
allure of Idaho is in its undeveloped and rural character,
and travelling around our state can be an adventure
in its self. Your adventure could include breathtaking
backcountry flights, a scenic mountain drive or even
a thrilling jetboat ride.

In
order to accomodate many different modes of travel,
our Salmon River Adventure includes transportation
beginning in Salmon, and ending in McCall. You have
many choices to connect the dots:

We recommend you fly into Boise prior to 4 pm the
day before your launch.
