Women’s Rafting Trip Information
Join Yellow Jacket River Guides and Sisters on the Fly for 5 days/4 nights rafting down the Wild and Scenic Salmon River, commonly known as the ''River of No Return''. This is one of the most beautiful rivers in the country, only accessible by boat or trail. August is a perfect time to go because kids are back in school and the weather is beautiful, water is lower, so big sandy beaches and rapids are really fun!
Enjoy playful days of white-water rafting, gourmet food, hot springs, sandy beaches, camp fire stories, making new friends and great company.
Rapids: Class III-IV rapids, running legendary rapids such as Black Creek, Bailey, Five Mile, Big Mallard and Elkhorn. While we will have some great rapids, we will also enjoy calm water perfect for taking a dip or practicing your rowing skills in a ducky!

Trip length: 5 days, 4 nights * August 19th through August 23rd, arrive in Salmon by the evening of August 18
Where: The adventure begins the evening prior to our launch in Salmon, Idaho on August 18th, with an orientation meeting at the Stagecoach Inn. The next morning, August 19th, we travel by charter ground transportation 68 miles down the Salmon River Road to Corn Creek, where the road ends and the wilderness begins. The river portion of our trip ends on the morning of August 23rd, when we arrive at Wilson Bar Landing Field to meet our chartered backcountry air taxi for the scenic flight returning to Salmon.
Trip Price: $2675.00 ($2400 trip price + $275 Return flight to Salmon)
$100 non-refundable preliminary deposit to hold your spot, secondary $435 non-refundable deposit due October 1. Balance due May 19, 2027.
Trip price includes: Rafting and camping equipment, fees and taxes, meals, guide and camp services, and Round trip travel from Salmon. It does not include additional transportation, pre or post trip meals and lodging, specialty beverages (liquor), or gratuities. Whitewater rafting is a service industry, and tips are a greatly appreciated way to thank your guides for exceptional care (10 to 20 percent of trip retail price is a good guideline.) In rare circumstances, river conditions necessitate adapting the trip starting or ending point. If alternate transportation is required, additional costs will be the responsibility of the participant.
Cancellations and Refunds: Due to the limited space available on our Salmon River Adventures, all payments will be forfeited for cancellations made within 90 days of your launch. Prior to that time, cancellations will be assessed a 20% charge. If YJRG cancels your trip due to "acts of god," including, but not limited to water, weather, fire, or other environmental conditions, no refunds will be issued. YJRG strongly recommends the purchase of trip insurance.
GETTING HERE:
For those driving to Idaho, we suggest you arrive in Salmon prior to 5pm the day before your launch.
For those flying to Idaho, we recommend you fly into Boise prior to 4 pm the day before your launch. 1 pm will give you more cushion for unplanned travel challenges.
Getting from Boise to Salmon:
Option 1: Schedule a charter flight with Gem Air Taxi to bring you from Boise to Salmon the afternoon before our launch. The day after our trip ends, an early flight back to Boise from Salmon will leave you plenty of time for an afternoon flight from Boise to home. This round trip package costs ~$550 dollars per person, with prices subject to change due to fuel price increases.
Option 2: Rent a car in Boise and drive to Salmon. This is a stunning 250 mile drive that will take approximately 5 hours.
If you plan to rent a car to get to Salmon from an airport, here are additional choices in order of proximity: Idaho Falls, Missoula (MT), Bozeman (MT), Sun Valley.
Beverages: Yellow Jacket River Guides provides all the fresh water you can drink, available at all times. In the morning, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and juice are served. At lunch and in camp powdered drink mixes such as Gatorade and lemonade are available. You are welcome to bring all of the additional beverages that you think you can drink. Please bring beer in cans, rather than bottles. YJRG does not allow alcohol consumption during the day while rafting.
Fishing: Yellow Jacket River Guides does not offer guided fishing or provide fishing equipment, however you will find great opportunities for the avid angler. If you plan to fish, you’ll need to purchase an Idaho fishing license, which you’ll be required to carry with you at any time that you are fishing. Your license can be purchased in advance through http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/cms/licenses/
